It’s tragic when a serious collision leads to a person’s death, especially when that crash was no fault of their own. Losing a loved one in a crash puts strain on a family that is hard to deal with.
In Mobile, an 18-year-old driver was killed on May 22. According to Alabama law enforcement authorities, the teen was driving on Schillinger Road at around 5:40 p.m. when another vehicle swerved in to her path to avoid another vehicle that was pulling out into traffic. That driver’s mistake led to a head-on crash with the 18-year-old’s vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the Mobile County teen was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but the teen did not survive the collision. Two other vehicles that were involved also collided in the northbound lanes, but the drivers of those vehicles did not suffer serious injuries. The authorities are continuing to investigate the situation to determine the cause of the crash.
Crashes like this one are particularly devastating, as they involve young people who are just starting their adult lives. They may have been working or already been accepted into college. They may have been a supportive member of the family who worked hard to provide an additional source of income.
If you lose a loved one in a crash that was caused by another driver’s recklessness or negligence, you have a right to pursue a civil legal claim. An experienced personal injury attorney can help you and your family take legal action to seek the compensation that you need and deserve.
